An Enlightened Approach to Healing

Dr. Kate W. Baldwin was senior surgeon for 23 years at Philadelphia Women’s Hospital, the oldest women’s hospital in the country. In 1924, little Grace Shirlow was brought into the hospital with 3rd degree burns over 4/5ths of her body. It was not only the skin that was burned but the fascia of the muscle.

Dr. Baldwin said, “I was brought in about 24 hours after the burn and the surgeon and the doctor stated ‘there was no use to do anything else.’

I told myself there was nothing in regular medicine or surgery that would make the child live. I told my assistant we might as well see what Spectro-Chrome would do. The child was 8 years old and there was complete suppression of urine for more than 48 hours and a temperature of 105 to 106 degrees.”

Spectro-Chrome was a perfectly attuned, 12 colour therapy system, developed by Dinshah Ghadiali, of India. Dr. Baldwin would be one of nearly 500 medical doctors in the US using the colour system in the 1920s and 1930s.

According to Dr. Baldwin, “Scarlet was applied just over the kidneys at a distance of eighteen inches for twenty minutes. Two hours later the child voided eight ounces of urine.”

The founder of the Spectro-Chrome system, Dinshah Ghadiali would be taken to trial several years later by the FDA and colour therapy was actually put on trial.

Dr. Baldwin would swear under oath, in that trial at the New York Superior Court, that she used colour, in the hospital, to cure, gonorrhea, syphilis, breast rumors, cataracts, gastric ulcers glaucoma, hemorrhage into the retina, sclera, bronchitis, pneumonia, tuberculosis, heart conditions, asthma, hay fever, jaundice, kidney conditions, and many others conditions.

Another witness for Dinshah was Dr. Martha Peebles. She was a doctor of medicine for twenty-four years and twenty years for the Department of Health for the City of New York. She was a physician to the American Expeditionary Forces during WW1. During the war she would attend up to 61 operations daily.

She stated under oath that she had been forced to retire due to ill health, but was using Spectro-Chrome which restored her health. She was using seventeen color machines over ten years and treated cancer, hypertrophic arthritis, poliomyelitis, and other medical conditions.

The jury of the trial was out for ninety minutes before rendering its verdict of ‘Not Guilty.’ In spite of that court victory and the extremely obvious effectiveness of the system, the AMA published an article condemning Dinshah’s colour therapy and most of the doctors gave up its use rather than lose their license.

When the hospital board at her hospital saw the results that Dr Baldwin had achieved using the system with Grace Shirlow, they added ten more color devices. However, after receiving pressure from the medical establishment they later gave Dr. Baldwin a choice to either give up the machines or give up her service at the hospital. She gave up her incredible position as a senior surgeon and well-recognized woman in medicine, saying, “I would rather give up the practice of medicine than go one day without using this system.”

The system, using 12 gelatin color filters of exact frequencies within each color, has been used for over 300 different medical conditions. One testamonial read: “I used the system on my father when Kaiser Permanente Hospital stated my father would remain a quadriplegic and they were going to do quadriplegic training. He walked out of the hospital. Out of the hundreds of therapies that my organization has compiled from around the world, this is the one that I mention when asked which is the most profound. There is only upside and no downside.”

The medical establishment condemned Dinshah’s colour therapy and made sure his machines were removed from hospitals and yet colour therapy is commonly used in hospitals. Premature babies with infant liver syndrome, yellow jaundice survive when placed under a blue light. Without the COLOUR it is almost a one hundred percent fatality rate for these babies. The colours aren’t what directly ‘cures’ the condition, it is that the colours induce physiological changes in the body that allow the body’s natural healing energy to become active.

Darius Dinshah, the son of Dinshah Ghadiali, has written the book, ‘Let There Be Light.’ It explains what colours to use for almost 350 different medical conditions.

Burn victim, eight-year-old Grace Shirlow within days of her arrival at hospital.

Other doctors said she was beyond help, there was nothing they could do for her.

Dr. Baldwin immediately began using the Spectro-Chrome therapy. No other medical intervention was used.

This is Grace after 18 months of Spectro-Chrome.

There were no skin grafts. The light therapy induced the physiological changes in her body which allowed her body's own natural healing energy to regenerate new skin (and the underlying fascia of the muscle) over the vast area of her body which had been so badly burned.

Here is a quote from an article written by Dr. Kate Baldwin which was published in the Atlantic Medical Journal of April 1927:

“For about six years I have given close attention to the action of colors in restoring the body functions, and I am perfectly honest in saying that, after nearly thirty-seven years of active hospital and private practice in medicine and surgery, I can produce quicker and more accurate results with colors than with any or all other methods combined – and with less strain on the patient. In many cases, functions have been restored after the classical remedies have failed. Of course, surgery is necessary in some cases, but the results will be quicker and better if color is used before and after operation. Sprains, bruises and traumas of all sorts respond to color as to no other treatment. Septic conditions yield, regardless of the specific organism. Cardiac lesions, asthma, hay fever, pneumonia, inflammatory conditions of the eyes, corneal ulcers, glaucoma, and cataracts are relieved by the treatment…

In some unusual cases that had not responded to other treatment, normal functioning has been restored by color therapy. At present, therefore, I do not feel justified in refusing any case without a trial. Even in cases where death is inevitable, much comfort may be secured.

There is no question that light and color are important therapeutic media, and that their adoption will be of advantage to both the profession and the people.”

In fact, when the hospital told her she could no longer use the Spectro-Chrome there, she chose to give up her position with the hospital in order to carry on using it in her own private practice. In a letter to a fellow doctor she wrote: “I would close my office tonight, never to reopen, if I could not use Spectro-Chrome.”

Sadly, the medical establishment successfully shut down any use of this successful natural therapy within the medical community, as they have so many successful natural therapies.

Western medical education and practice changed quite dramatically after 1910, when Rockefeller and Carnegie literally ‘rewrote the book’ on medical education, eliminating any natural therapies in favour of a drug based model. This, of course, greatly benefited them financially because of their chemical corporations.

One famous quote from Rockefeller is: "Competition is a sin" and, since people at that time were more inclined to use natural therapies than doctors (and their 'patent medicines'), the financial support Rockefeller offered for Universities and medical schools only went to those which eliminated any training in any type of natural treatment.

As in the case of Spectro-Chrome, great pressure was used by the medical establishment to eliminate these very successful natural therapies.

Fortunately, many people are beginning to realize the serious problems associated with reliance on drugs over nature and many of the successful natural therapies like Spectro-Chrome are being rediscovered. Many new natural therapies and treatments are also being developed.

One of the wonderful things about the mind-body energy medicine is that any new modalities and therapies can be so easily incorporated into sessions. I have now acquired the light, coloured filters and the book and I am adding it to my energy medicine ‘tool box’. Though I have the book outlining the recommended colours for so many conditions, with BodyTalk, I can simply ask my clients’ bodies when/if the Spectro-Chrome should be used and which colour or colours to use for best results. I can, if indicated, apply the light while doing BodyTalk or other energy medicine techniques further enhancing the effectiveness of both.

As I was preparing this article, I came across this fascinating article entitled Biophotons: The Human Body Emits, Communicates with, and is Made from Light by Sayer Ji.

Below are a couple of sections from that article which seem to me to be particularly relevant to the healing effects that have been found with the Spectro-Chrome system of coloured lights as well as the efficacy of systems like BodyTalk and energy medicine in general.

Our Cells and DNA Use Biophotons To Store and Communicate Information

Apparently biophotons are used by the cells of many living organisms to communicate, which facilitates energy/information transfer that is several orders of magnitude faster than chemical diffusion. According to a 2010 study, “Cell to cell communication by biophotons have been demonstrated in plants, bacteria, animal neutriophil granulocytes and kidney cells.”[9] Researchers were able to demonstrate that “…different spectral light stimulation (infrared, red, yellow, blue, green and white) at one end of the spinal sensory or motor nerve roots resulted in a significant increase in the biophotonic activity at the other end.” Researchers interpreted their finding to suggest that “…light stimulation can generate biophotons that conduct along the neural fibers, probably as neural communication signals.”

Even when we go down to the molecular level of our genome, DNA can be identified to be a source of biophoton emissions as well. One author proposes that DNA is so biophoton dependent that is has excimer laser-like properties, enabling it to exist in a stable state far from thermal equilibrium at threshold.[10]

Technically speaking a biophoton is an elementary particle or quantum of light of non-thermal origin in the visible and ultraviolet spectrum emitted from a biological system. They are generally believed to be produced as a result of energy metabolism within our cells, or more formally as a “…by-product of biochemical reactions in which excited molecules are produced from bioenergetic processes that involves active oxygen species,” [11]

Intention Is a Living Force of Physiology

Even human intention itself, the so-called ghost in the machine, may have an empirical basis in biophotons.

A recent commentary published in the journal Investigacion clinica titled “Evidence about the power of intention” addressed this connection:

Intention is defined as a directed thought to perform a determined action. Thoughts targeted to an end can affect inanimate objects and practically all living things from unicellular organisms to human beings. The emission of light particles (biophotons) seems to be the mechanism through which an intention produces its effects. All living organisms emit a constant current of photons as a mean to direct instantaneous nonlocal signals from one part of the body to another and to the outside world. Biophotons are stored in the intracellular DNA. When the organism is sick changes in biophotons emissions are produced. Direct intention manifests itself as an electric and magnetic energy producing an ordered flux of photons. Our intentions seem to operate as highly coherent frequencies capable of changing the molecular structure of matter. For the intention to be effective it is necessary to choose the appropriate time. In fact, living beings are mutually synchronized and to the earth and its constant changes of magnetic energy. It has been shown that the energy of thought can also alter the environment. Hypnosis, stigmata phenomena and the placebo effect can also be considered as types of intention, as instructions to the brain during a particular state of consciousness. Cases of spontaneous cures or of remote healing of extremely ill patients represent instances of an exceedingly great intention to control diseases menacing our lives. The intention to heal as well as the beliefs of the sick person on the efficacy of the healing influences promote his healing. In conclusion, studies on thought and consciousness are emerging as fundamental aspects and not as mere epiphenomena that are rapidly leading to a profound change in the paradigms of Biology and Medicine.

Your body naturally wants to heal....mind-body energy medicine facilitates your own body's natural healing ability!
